Murdock Mackay Butcher Mechanics

On October 11th, 2005, I took my 1979 Chrysler Cordoba into the Auto Shop at Winnipeg's Murdock Mackay School. The "Mechaics" were supposed to refit the AC system from R-12 to R-134a refrigerant. They did none of the above, sighting a "leaky AC compressor" as an unservicable component of the system. I asked them to simply reassemble the system and return the car to me for the time being.

The following pages show the aftermath of these Butcher Mechanics. It frightens me to think that these were the GRADE 12 STUDENTS that were working on my car and that they are the ones who will soon be out in the field working on YOUR CAR!

Since this was posted, I learned something else about these "mechanics". Before I took my car to this shop, I drove it about 1200 km in fairly warm summer weather with no problems at all. The day I picked up the car I didn't get 5 km to my home before the car over heated! I was at a loss as to what could have happened. I replaced the thermostat and thermo-clutch on the fan with no effect. I then replaced the radiator cap and the engine stays cool as it should. I can only assume that the "mechanics" had replaced my radiator cap with one that was from somewhere else...that cap being defective. Nice huh!
