P Dean's 1978 New Yorker Brougham Salon

I bought this 440-powered New Yorker Brougham Salon on ebay back in January of '06, but had to wait until mid-March to go get it because of the phenomenal amount of snow the Midwest had this Winter! I drove my Dodge Cummins up and towed it home on my flatbed trailer. This is a Salon, and is one of only seven or so that are documented on this site. It has the gray velour interior. I have the special Salon wheel inserts for these wheels, but have yet to install them. This is my wife's car. It is nearly identical to the '78 NYB her Dad had from 1984 - 1991. Her Mom sold it out from under my wife, as her Dad had promised here the car when he quit driving, but her Mom decided to trade it off on a new '91 Dakota, getting only $300 trade value on a car with less than 75K miles on it! So, from that point on, I promised my wife that if I found the right '78, in silver, I'd get it for her! So, this is that car. I bought this Chrysler, which was sold new in Fort Dodge, Iowa, from the second owner, who lives in Plymouth County, Iowa! Ain't that something?

The only options the Salon is lacking is a sunroof, the Auto-Temp, the Auto-Level suspension, and leather. It has just over 100K real miles on the clock. Only things I've had to do to it so far is a rear brake adjustment and a new oil sending unit. It will get new tires later this year, and a little touching-up. The car still has it's original paint, which is nearly unheard of for a Silver car! I have all of the original paperwork for this car, plus documentation of maintenance work from the previous owner.

It is a beautiful riding and driving car! We always get the thumbs-up from everyone we see on the road. Even from Prius owners!
