Brad Hogg's 1979 Chrysler Cordoba

Before

After

Read about my experience having my car serviced at Murdock Mackay School in Winnipeg.

In July of 2005, while in conversation with NYB Club member Marc Voyer, he mentioned he had a 1979 Cordoba for sale. We discussed the price and I decided to buy the car from him. This car has the Electronic Lean Burn system intact and functioning on its 360 V8 small block engine.

On Saturday, September 3rd, I headed out to Lethbridge, Alberta to pick up the Cordoba. A local classic car owner and I drove my 1990 Imperial out as it gets the best gas mileage of any of my cars and Lethbridge is 1200 km away. We arrived in Lethbridge that evening and had supper with Marc. We stayed over night and then loaded up the Cordoba and headed back to Winnipeg. The trip was rather uneventful, the way I like. We arrived in Winnipeg Monday morning about 5 AM.

The car drove beautifully and the 360 V8 Lean Burn got 25 mpg. Most things on the car work great. I noticed the heater core has been disconnected so it might leak. There is a little surface rust on the trunk floor that I can treat with POR-15. The paint on the car is very bad so a repaint is in order. Other than the paint, the car needs very little to be a very nice car. I am enjoying driving the car and hope to do so for a long while yet.

March 24, 2006:
I've decided to take the plunge and paint the Cordoba. The car is in VERY nice condition except the paint. I'm currently working on repainting the car. There are some videos of the painting process too.

Have a look at an ad for a 1975 Cordoba featuring Ricardo Montalban.

You might be amused by reading an account of my recent visit to Ron's Custom Upholstery Ltd in Winnipeg, Manitoba.

I want to thank not only Al for all the advice, abuse and expertise that he lent to this project but I want to also thank Willie at Auto Stripe for the masterful job he did on the moldings and stripes and also Mitch at AMA Glass & Trim for the beautiful vinyl top he installed. I find it such a pleasure to see a craftsman at work and these gentlemen are such a pleasure to deal with that they took alot of the stress out of this project.
